Vavuniya Campus won third place in Hackadev
The team Psycoders of Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna was selected as one of the two National Champions to represent Youth Co:Lab summit ( the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP Asia-Pacific youth entrepreneurship initiative) in Bangkok, Thailand. This summit gathered the 21 best social innovation startups in the Asia Pacific region out of about 140 social enterprises across a total of 11 countries. Two members of the team (Janaka Sampath and Lahiru Prabudda ) were given a full expenses paid free trip to the conference which was held from 26th -28th March at United Nations regional hub (United Nations ESCAP) in Bangkok. Team Psycoders journey began at UNDP Sri Lanka Hackadev 3.0 held in Jaffna when they became the 2nd Runners Up for their social innovation chatbot app idea that automatically tries to identify a users current mental/emotional state to help users to be more happy and bring relationships more closer by suggesting various activities. 9 teams out of 45 from universities all over Sri Lanka including teams from University of Moratuwa, University of Kelaniya etc, emerged as national winners from the UNDP Hackadev 3.0 clustered hackathon series. Out of those 9, only team Pyscoders from Vavuniya Campus and a team from Rajarata University was selected by UNDP Asia Pacific Regional Hub to represent the Youth Co:Lab summit in Thailand.
